(Windsor, ON) It’s official! WEtech Alliance with the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation has launched DeskUP, a program aimed at helping enterprising university and college graduates take the first step towards startup success in the innovation and technology sector here in Windsor-Essex.
WEtech is looking for recent graduates within 3 years who have an innovative idea and/or company. The successful DeskUP applicant will be provided with subsidized office space worth $200/month for one year at The Accelerator complete with a brand new iMac computer, access to professional meeting space and amenities, and all the tools needed to get your business off the ground including: a receptionist, printer, telephone number and business address and mailbox.
But, it’s not just the space! You’ll also establish a partnership with WEtech Alliance. This includes professional mentorship and coaching from our stellar in-house seasoned entrepreneurs. Why not learn from those who’ve lived in the startup trenches themselves. “I have not only taken ideas to market, built and sold successful companies from the ground up, but I’ve also taken my lumps along the way,” says Rob Whent, WEtech Alliance Entrepreneur In Residence. “You learn more from challenges and setbacks and that’s the kind of hard-won knowledge I’m excited to share.”
Additionally, successful applicants will have the privilege of working within The Accelerator. This space puts you in the middle of the region’s hottest incubator of ideas and companies. Its collaborative environment of likeminded entrepreneurs gives you access to invaluable resources and connections. “As a tenant of The Accelerator, our company has the opportunity to share contacts, leverage event opportunities and bounce ideas off one another “. It’s more than just cool office space!” says Dan Renaud, President of Tellbob, a consumer information company.
If you’re looking to take the plunge into entrepreneurship, DeskUP is interested in the following sectors: advanced manufacturing, information technology and communications, green technology, life sciences, and social innovation. If you think you have it, the DeskUP program is now open! For more information or to apply, click here. Please hurry as space is limited.
