Yvonne Pilon, President and CEO

Yvonne Pilon is the President and CEO of WEtech Alliance, one of the eighteen Regional Innovation Centres in the province of Ontario focused on driving the growth and success of Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent’s technology centric companies and entrepreneurs. 

Yvonne is passionate about promoting and building an entrepreneurial community here in Windsor-Essex. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in new venture formation, marketing and communications and social media. She also has an exceptional track record in planning and executing projects, events and programs. With notable achievements in the Windsor-Essex community, Yvonne was recognized and awarded with the 2013 University of Windsor Alumni Association’s Odyssey Award. 

Yvonne was lead coordinator for Startup Canada’s National Tour visit to Windsor in May 2012. Yvonne is also the Chair for the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards and Co-Chair of the WE Prosper Youth Attraction and Retention Task Force.


Deborah Livneh Eng. MBA, Entrepreneur-in-Residence

Deborah Livneh’s business experience ranges from co-founding and working with startup companies to serving multinational corporations. She is notably a veteran co-founder of an innovative medical technology enterprise.

Following the successful exit of the startup company, she became the Plant Manager of Gyrus-ACMI Canada, a division of the global corporation Olympus Corporation – where she was involved in the introduction and manufacturing of cutting-edge products, the assurance of regulatory compliance, and she was responsible for delivering profitable bottom line.

As Entrepreneur-in-Residence at WEtech, Deborah is actively engaged in aiding companies and entrepreneurs bring their new innovative products to market. Presently, she also consults health companies on regulatory and compliance issues.

Deborah is a session business professor at the Odette School of Business, University of Windsor. She holds a Masters of Business Administration degree along with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.

Deborah has long enjoyed being involved and giving back to the community. Ms. Livneh is the past Chair of the Board of the St. Clair College Board of Governors, as well as past Director and Treasurer at the Downtown Windsor Business Accelerator Board of Directors.  Presently, Ms. Livneh is a member of the Board of Directors at Motor City Community Credit Union, and she sits on the Board of Directors of Transform SSO, the shared services organization for 5 Southwestern Ontario hospitals.

Deborah is enthusiastic about working one-on-one with Windsor Essex’s technology focused companies and looks forward to the opportunity to contribute to the region’s technology and future entrepreneurial success.



Marco Fiori, Business Advisor

Marco is the WEtech Alliance as a Business Advisor and brings to the team a multi-disciplinary background having worked in various fields over the past fifteen years. As an active investor in private and public companies, Marco has assisted in investor relations, private placements and corporate branding.

Previous experience includes database and CRM integration, design work and corporate creation for the development of young startups as well as project management, marketing and communications.

Highlights include concept to full execution of two startup private companies in 2006 that were listed on the TSX Venture Exchange. As a founding member in 2008, Marco was instrumental in the creation of the Investment & Commercialization Group at the Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation (OCRI). Assisting to establish a company process model and best practices for the group, the team was successful in its application to become the Regional Innovation Centre (RIC) for Ottawa and Eastern Ontario through the Ministry of Research and Innovation (MRI) in 2011 operating as part of Invest Ottawa. As the Manager of the Business Acceleration team and since its inception, the group has helped generate over $100 million in private investments.



Irek Kusmierczyk, Director of Partnerships

Irek received his PhD in Political Science from Vanderbilt University, MSc in Government from the London School of Economics, and a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University. He is a Councillor of the City of Windsor representing Ward 7 and works on the Boards of the Essex Regional Conservation Authority, the Health Unit, Transit Windsor, and the Windsor Public Library among others.

Irek worked in government at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an Atlantic Council of Canada Fellow and has published a book chapter on cross-border environmental cooperation between local governments around the Great Lakes basin.

Irek is a proud Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar.




John-Marc Vachon, Director of Program & Marketing

John-Marc joined the WEtech team as Director of Programs & Marketing after over 17 years in the restaurant industry. He brings with him over 15 years of Management experience as well as extensive knowledge of Social Media Marketing & Graphic Design. His work as Director of Marketing for Wendy’s Windsor-Essex has won both local & National Awards, including recognition of his locally created Community Connection Program which has donated over $50,000 to Windsor-Essex non-profit organizations since it’s inception and has now been adopted in several other regions across the country.

John-Marc leads up the WEtech Alliance Social Media Superheroes, a group of 30+ local Social Media super-users that represent a cross-section of the Community, with representation from business, non-profit, special interest groups, the public & catholic school boards and media outlets with a combined social media following of over 100,000. The group meets regularly to discuss best practices, tips, tricks & pet peeves on the various Social Media platforms; develop & implement local initiatives like our #YQG regional hashtag and our annual Social Media Day event; and assists local non-profits, businesses & special interests develop & grow their Social Media presence.



Michelle Teno-Wachter, Administration and Member Services 

Michelle Teno-Wachter has been with WEtech Alliance since 2010 as the Administrator for Member Services. Michelle is the “concierge” for WEtech; as she is the greeter, caller and the go-to-person assisting with all WEtech inquiries. Michelle brings a wealth of Administrative experience and organizational skills from working at The Windsor Star for 32 years. She is an entrepreneur as well, opening up Formally Yours Upscale Consignment Boutique for womens fashion 10 years ago, so she’s aware of the numerous challenges entrepreneurs face when starting their business.

Michelle has been a board member on the Olde Riverside BIA Board of Directors for the past 5 years and their Marketing Committee for the past 4 years. She has been instrumental in organizing events for both WEtech and the Olde Riverside BIA.

In her personal time, she volunteers at Street Help for the Homeless, Spirit of Excellence for Women, and has organized numerous fundraising events for the Iris House, Ronald MacDonald House, University of Windsor, Windsor Police Camp Brombal for Youth, St. Rose School and St. John Vianney Church.


Cathy Mombourquette, Director of Social Innovation

Cathy Mombourquette is the Director of Social Innovation at WEtech Alliance. In partnership with Pathway to Potential, the Social Innovation program has a dual focus of building capacity and fostering a social enterprise ecosystem for both entrepreneurs and the not-for-profit sector. Cathy’s role is to explore social innovation best practices, increase awareness and implementation of social enterprise through regional idea labs, workshops, and launch a community loan fund to advance economic development of the Windsor-Essex community.

Cathy is an accomplished professional with over 15 years experience at the senior management level in the private (banking) and public (health care) sectors. Her leadership responsibilities included marketing, communications, public and media relations, and customer service and patient experience program management.

Cathy was born and raised in Windsor, and holds a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Windsor, as well as a post graduate certificate in strategic communication management from Royal Roads University.

A highly respected community leader, she has a passion for helping people and the community by building schools in Africa, lending her expertise to over 20 local volunteer boards and committees and raising money for many causes and charities.

Cathy is a Rotarian, and is past-president of the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland, and current Board member of Maryvale Adolescent & Family Services.
