Yvonne Pilon is the President and CEO of WEtech Alliance, one of the eighteen Regional Innovation Centres in the province of Ontario focused on driving the growth and success of Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent’s technology centric companies and entrepreneurs.

Yvonne is passionate about promoting and building an entrepreneurial community here in Windsor-Essex. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in new venture formation, marketing and communications and social media. She also has an exceptional track record in planning and executing projects, events and programs. With notable achievements in the Windsor-Essex community, Yvonne was recognized and awarded with the 2013 University of Windsor Alumni Association’s Odyssey Award.

Yvonne was lead coordinator for Startup Canada’s National Tour visit to Windsor in May 2012. Yvonne is also the Chair for the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards and Co-Chair of the WE Prosper Youth Attraction and Retention Task Force.

Deborah Livneh’s business experience ranges from co-founding and working with startup companies to serving multinational corporations. She is notably a veteran co-founder of an innovative medical technology enterprise.

Following the successful exit of the startup company, she became the Plant Manager of Gyrus-ACMI Canada, a division of the global corporation Olympus Corporation – where she was involved in the introduction and manufacturing of cutting-edge products, the assurance of regulatory compliance, and she was responsible for delivering profitable bottom line.

As Entrepreneur-in-Residence at WEtech, Deborah is actively engaged in aiding companies and entrepreneurs bring their new innovative products to market. Presently, she also consults health companies on regulatory and compliance issues.

Deborah is a session business professor at the Odette School of Business, University of Windsor. She holds a Masters of Business Administration degree along with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.

Deborah has long enjoyed being involved and giving back to the community. Ms. Livneh is a past member of the Board of Directors at Motor City Community Credit Union, the past Chair of the Board of the St. Clair College Board of Governors, as well as past Director and Treasurer at the Downtown Windsor Business Accelerator Board of Directors.  Presently, Ms. Livneh sits on the Board of Directors of Transform SSO, the shared services organization for 5 Southwestern Ontario hospitals.

Deborah is enthusiastic about working one-on-one with Windsor Essex’s technology focused companies and looks forward to the opportunity to contribute to the region’s technology and future entrepreneurial success.

KEY INITIATIVES:   Cleantech Academy   Hacking Health Windsor + Detroit

Irek received his PhD in Political Science from Vanderbilt University, MSc in Government from the London School of Economics, and a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University. He is a City Councillor representing Ward 7 in Windsor and works on the Planning & Economic Development Standing Committee, Windsor Public Library, Tourism Windsor Essex & Pelee Island, and the Essex Regional Conservation Authority among others.

Irek worked in government at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an Atlantic Council of Canada Fellow and has published a book chapter on cross-border environmental cooperation between local governments around the Great Lakes basin.

Irek is proud of WEtech’s work with industry and community partners to spearhead the growth of the FIRST Robotics program in Windsor-Essex, while building important regional connections with the cross-border tech & economic development community through initiatives such as Hacking Health Windsor-Detroit.

Irek is a proud Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar.

John-Marc joined the WEtech team as Director of Programs & Marketing in March 2015 after over 17 years in the restaurant industry. He brings with him over 15 years of Management experience as well as extensive knowledge of Social Media Marketing & Graphic Design. His work as Director of Marketing for Wendy’s Windsor-Essex has won both local & National Awards, including recognition of his locally created Community Connection Program which has donated over $50,000 to Windsor-Essex non-profit organizations since it’s inception and has now been adopted in several other regions across the country.

John-Marc leads up the WEtech Alliance Social Media Superheroes, a group of 30+ local Social Media super-users that represent a cross-section of the Community, with representation from business, non-profit, special interest groups, the public & catholic school boards and media outlets with a combined social media following of over 100,000. The group meets regularly to discuss best practices, tips, tricks & pet peeves on the various Social Media platforms; develop & implement local initiatives like our #YQG regional hashtag and our annual Social Media Day event; and assists local non-profits, businesses & special interests develop & grow their Social Media presence.

John-Marc is also the Chief Marketing Officer for Windsor Rock Gym, the region’s only purpose built bouldering gym.

Over the past 5 years Adam has worked extensively in the startup space in Waterloo and Toronto, both as an early employee in a high growth social enterprise, as well as a startup coach and mentor for young entrepreneurs. His values can be summed up in 3 quick sentences. Find your passion. Relentlessly pursue it. Help others to do the same.

Adam brings a wealth of hands on experience from working inside a high growth startup, specifically the social enterprise, Textbooks for Change. Adam’s role as the Director of Business Development at Textbooks for Change role was to develop unique growth strategies to hit their expansion targets, while at the same time coaching and leading their quickly expanding sales team. Over the last two years Textbooks for Change has grown from 4 employees to 16, had revenues of over 2M, and grown their partner base 300%.

As a startup coach and mentor Adam has helped startups go from product market fit to closing that first, 100th, and 1000th deal. His goal is always to help build repeatable and sustainable systems and back end processes that allow young startups to blossom into thriving companies. He has participated in, and has been a part of designing several high end accelerators, including Impact 8, Ascent, the Laurier LaunchPad, Greenhouse, among a few others. Tangible, is the best way to describe Adam’s coaching philosophy.

Adam Castle has spent the last six years working in Economic Development in Windsor-Essex, specializing in business development and growth across multiple sectors and working with companies of all sizes.

Adam is a highly driven and successful Business Advisor with an entrepreneurial spirit. He started his first business when he was 15 and continues to run it today. He has had extensive experience leading local companies to growth and market differentiation with a record of generating new business opportunities and developing lucrative partnerships.

His guiding principle in business and life is to “dream with your sleeves rolled up” and believes strongly that through hard work, lifelong learning, and consistency, that all goals no matter their size or scale, are within reach.

Adam brings with him a deep understanding and comprehensive knowledge of the local business ecosystem and a well-developed network of local resource providers. He is an expert at building relationships and has a proven track record of developing strategies to accomplish breakthrough objectives. In 2017, in his role as Economic Development Coordinator with the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation, Adam helped to facilitate the creation of over 400 jobs, nearly 6 Million dollars in public and private investment and worked with close to 200 clients. His expertise lies in his ability to solve problems creatively and break down barriers to business growth through a holistic approach.

He is a member of the Economic Developers Association of Canada and is currently in pursuit of his Economic Developers designation from the University of Waterloo.

Adam is a passionate advocate for his clients and encourages them to consider him an expansion of their team from day one. He encourages sustainable and measured growth through the use of simple to learn mental models and best practices. He prides himself on his tried and tested experience in implementing scalability strategies and is ready to help your start-up reach the next level. Michelle Teno-Wachter has been with WEtech Alliance since 2010 as the Administrator for Member Services. Michelle is the “concierge” for WEtech; as she is the greeter, caller and the go-to-person assisting with all WEtech inquiries. Michelle brings a wealth of Administrative experience and organizational skills from working at The Windsor Star for 32 years. She is an entrepreneur as well, opening up Formally Yours Upscale Consignment Boutique for womens fashion 10 years ago, so she’s aware of the numerous challenges entrepreneurs face when starting their business.

Michelle has been a board member on the Olde Riverside BIA Board of Directors for the past 5 years and their Marketing Committee for the past 4 years. She has been instrumental in organizing events for both WEtech and the Olde Riverside BIA.

In her personal time, she volunteers at Street Help for the Homeless, Spirit of Excellence for Women, and has organized numerous fundraising events for the Iris House, Ronald MacDonald House, University of Windsor, Windsor Police Camp Brombal for Youth, St. Rose School and St. John Vianney Church.
