We sat down with Janelle for a rapid-fire Q&A to get to know her better.
Q: Describe yourself in five words.
A: Creative, passionate, social, thoughtful, caring.
Q: Are you more of a hunter or a gatherer?
A: I think that you need to be capable of being both a hunter and gatherer. It is important to utilize the resources around you (gatherer), but also be able to search for resources when they may not be readily available (hunter). Together, you set yourself up for success because you are prepared on all ends to “eat”.
Q: What were you like in high school?
A: I wrestled… but was also a social butterfly!
Q: You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
A: Turquoise. It pops, but it is also compatible with a lot of other complimentary colours. Also, it is a unique and rich earth tone.
Q: What would the title of your autobiography be called?
A: “If she can, you can.”
Q: What’s your favourite ’90s jam?
A: Anything from Shania Twain, The Chicks, Mariah… we could go into 90s pop too. My rst concert was The Backstreet Boys. Denitely my fav era to dance, clean and sing to.
Q: What would your pet say about you if we asked for a reference?
A: “I never get any sleep during the day because she always has music on!”
Q: What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?
Q: Which animal would make the best type of president if the animal kingdom ever rises up and takes over?
A: Dolphins! They’re altruistic and are known to help other animals and humans.
Q: What do you work toward in your free time?
A: “Personal health (physical/mental), experiencing nature with my husband and dog, and academic/professional growth.”
Q: What Friends character do you most identify with?
Q: If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?
A: Aesthetically based, I am sure I would chose something different. Solely based on capabilities – the puffin. I love nature and I love the freedom of water and air. Something about swimming puts be in a safe, freeing space. As well, I love the idea of soaring high in the sky. Being one of few animals that can swim and fly, that is why I would have to choose the puffin.
Q: Favourite superhero?
A: My mother.
Q: Have you ever tried to do something and you knew that you were going to be really bad at it, but you did it anyway?
A: Running! I am still not the best, but I’ve ran a few races and it has been a great endeavour.
Q: You’re on death row. What’s your last meal?
A: Too many favourites to decide.
Q: What is your best feature?
A: Kindness and caring/thoughtful.
Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
A: I finished my first half marathon a few years ago. It was something I never thought I would be able to accomplish in my wildest dreams. Now I know that I can achieve anything, with the right mindset!
Q: What is one thing you’re most excited for in joining the WEtech Alliance team?
A: A work family. People who ACTUALLY care about the success of each other and the well-being of each other.
