This milestone brings total funding for regional women and non-binary founders to over $110,000 through WEtech’s partnership with Communitech.
WEtech Alliance is thrilled to announce that Fuseinat Brimah, founder and CEO of Windsor-based CanGro Foods has been selected to participate in Communitech’s Fierce Founders Uplift program.
Brimah is one of 10 founders selected for the latest cohort of Communitech Fierce Founders Uplift, which supports women and non-binary founders from equity-deserving groups by providing them with mentorship, $10,000 in non-matching funds, and the networks they need to scale their companies.
Through this three-to-five-month program, participants will receive access to hands-on support from Communitech’s experienced growth coaches to help build and execute on a customized growth plan, as well as assistance identifying market opportunities and uncovering the gaps within their go-to-market strategy. Founders will also expand their leadership and business skills through one-on-one coaching and workshops.
Thanks to a partnership with WEtech Alliance, this annual program is now accessible to women and non-binary founders across Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.

CanGro AgriFoods Inc. was established by Brimah in 2021. The social enterprise is dedicated to supporting farmers and elevating agricultural projects by empowering them with comprehensive management solutions at every stage of the farming process. Through customized services and resources, Cangro helps farmers enhance practices and boost productivity for a sustainable future.
With over 20 years of experience in the food industry, Brimah’s journey began with owning and operating Afro-Caribbean grocery stores. She gained firsthand knowledge of the challenges surrounding access to ethnic foods and fresh produce in the local community. Her experience in the food business, coupled with her deep understanding of the dietary needs of her community, motivated her to establish Cangro. The company’s mission centers on providing fresh, locally grown produce to the community, especially ethnic foods that are often difficult to find in traditional grocery stores.
Brimah is also a member of the Southwestern Ontario Black Entrepreneurship Network (SWOBEN) and was a participant in the first cohort of the WEtech-supported i.d.e.a. Fund program.
Communitech’s Fierce Founders program is funded by the Federal Economic Development Agency of Southern Ontario, the City of Kitchener, Google, and the Province of Ontario. It empowers women and non-binary founders to scale their businesses and grow as leaders.
