A message from our President & CEO
At its heart, WEtech Alliance exists to help companies Start, Sell, and Scale. Everything we do—whether it’s connecting a first-time founder to their first mentor, preparing a startup for investment, or helping a scaling company break into new markets—is rooted in that mission.
FY24-25 was a year that reminded us why this work matters. Nearly 200 entrepreneurs and companies turned to WEtech for support, including dozens of new founders taking their first steps. Through tailored advisory services, growth coaching, and expanded peer group programming, we’ve seen the power of shared learning and community in helping founders overcome challenges and accelerate growth. Our work was strengthened by new partnerships, including our role in the ScaleUP Platform, which has opened doors for regional companies to tap into new networks, programming, capital, and expertise.
This year also highlighted the growing opportunities in our region, with two regional tech companies securing multi-million-dollar investments—a strong indication of the momentum building in Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.
As I write this, we are acutely aware of the realities shaping entrepreneurship today: tariffs and trade headwinds, economic and policy uncertainty, and disruptive technologies like AI transforming industries overnight. AI is not only changing how products are built and how talent is deployed—it’s reshaping the very structure of startups and companies themselves. These pressures highlight why WEtech’s role is more important than ever: helping founders navigate complexity, adapt to disruption, and seize opportunities in uncertain times.
Looking ahead, we are also exploring new possibilities for how our ecosystem can evolve. Together with the City of Windsor, the University of Windsor, and North Guide, we began exploratory work on a Windsor Innovation Zone—a vision to re-imagine downtown as a hub for founders, talent, industry, and community. While still in early stages, this work reflects our belief that density and collaboration are essential ingredients for innovation.
As we prepare to launch our renewed strategy, our commitment remains clear: WEtech will continue to put founders first, remain data-driven, and work in deep partnership to build capacity and impact. Together, we’ll ensure Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent remain places where entrepreneurs can start, sell, scale—and succeed.
Thank you to our team, our board, our partners, and most importantly, the entrepreneurs who inspire this work every day. This report reflects your achievements as much as ours, and together we are shaping the future of our region’s innovation economy.
