The Windsor Google Developers Group (GDG) is proud to announce the return of Windsor-Essex DevFest 2025, a premier technology conference happening on Saturday, November 8, 2025. This year’s event will be hosted at the Odette School of Business, University of Windsor and is set to be one of the largest gatherings of developers, innovators, and technology enthusiasts in the region.
With 35 speakers, 300+ attendees, and 25 sessions, Windsor-Essex DevFest will showcase cutting-edge discussions and hands-on learning across five dynamic tracks: Machine Learning & AI, Cloud & Web Technologies, Startup & Innovation, Full-Stack Development, and Cybersecurity.
“This event is a welcome place for community members from every background,” said Dr. Ali El-Sharif, Co-Lead of Windsor GDG. “If you are just starting to learn about Artificial Intelligence and how you can use it or if you are an expert developer, you will find a session to attend and learn from.”
DevFests are globally recognized conferences powered by Google Developer Groups (GDG) that bring together developers, tech leaders, and students to explore the latest technologies.
Introducing the “Innovate with AI” student competition featuring $1,000 in prizes
This year introduces the “Innovate with AI” Student Competition, inviting teams to submit proposals that leverage Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Cloud Technology. The winning teams will share $1,000 in prizes. The deadline to apply is October 12, 2025.
“DevFest 2025 is about sparking innovation and collaboration, and positioning Windsor-Essex as a hub where technology and creativity come together,” said Dr. Esraa Abdelhalim, DevFest Organizing Committee. “It is these moments, happening once a year, that bring our entire community together to exchange ideas, inspire one another, and drive innovation forward.”
A special high school track, led by Ron McKenzie, Computer Science Teacher at Vincent Massey Secondary School, will give students hands-on experience assembling and programming car kits using Arduino technology — offering a practical and fun introduction to coding and robotics for the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers.
