A Windsor collaboration bringing together art, storytelling and technology has officially made its way to mobile.
Following this weekend’s community preview of The Zookeeper, Windsor technology company Red Piston and local artist Jeff Denomme, aka The Haunted Zoo, have launched HauntedZoo Honeycomb Heroes, a new mobile app game inspired by The Haunted Zoo universe.
The collaboration between Red Piston and The Haunted Zoo isn’t new. The partnership first took shape through one of the Haunted Zoo’s largest murals, created on the Red Piston building in downtown Windsor. The massive artwork celebrates Canadian innovation and technology, transforming the building itself into a highly visible canvas for the region’s creative and tech community.
Now, that partnership has moved from the side of a building to screens around the world.
HauntedZoo Honeycomb Heroes is now available for download on both iOS and Android. The casual puzzle action game invites players to guide Maverick the bee through colourful meadows, drawing flight paths to collect pollen, dodge obstacles and return to the hive. Players can also experience characters from The Haunted Zoo world, combining Denomme’s distinctive artwork and storytelling with Red Piston’s expertise in mobile app and game development.
The launch also builds on the story behind The Zookeeper, a new docuseries created with award-winning Windsor filmmaker Gavin Michael Booth. The series follows Denomme and the people behind his projects, exploring the intersection of art, entrepreneurship, technology and community in Windsor-Essex.
The docuseries is coming to Bell Fibe TV1, bringing the people, projects and collaborations behind The Haunted Zoo to audiences beyond the region.
