Canada Learning Code | AI Fundamentals (online)
August 18, 2024 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

In this workshop, you’ll be introduced to the fundamentals of AI, unraveling the mysteries of concepts like machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, generative AI, and beyond.
Discover the boundless possibilities AI offers and gain invaluable insights into responsible AI practices. By the workshop’s end, you’ll emerge with a fresh perspective on AI’s potential and the knowledge to wield it ethically and effectively.
And yes, AI did help us write this event description 😉
AI is a hot topic both in and outside of the tech world. And rightfully so! It’s dramatically changing the way we work and interact online. We know it can be overwhelming and scary to even start understanding it, so we’re in your corner to guide you along the way.
This summer, cool off with us. Local chapters across Canada will be hosting AI workshops and events that invite you to ask questions, learn and explore AI in a supportive, social and collaborative environment. We believe everyone should (and can!) understand how AI works to use it ethically and effectively – and we can do that together.
Who is this for?
- “I’m curious about tech and code in general”
- “I am a complete beginner when it comes to coding”
- “I have some coding skills but I’m looking to try my hand at something new!”
- “I have financial barriers that make it hard to pay for classes and training”
- “I’m not sure if I belong in tech— I wish I saw more people like me leading this industry!”
This event is open to all adults 18+, designed in a way that seeks to explicitly welcome people with underrepresented genders—this includes cis women, trans women, trans men, non-binary people, and others who are marginalized because of their gender identity or expression.
We believe that addressing the gender gap in tech is just one part of building digital equity. A more just and equitable future for technology in Canada means building programming that supports, empowers, and equips all learners who historically have been—and continue to be—underrepresented in tech, particularly Black, Indigenous and other Racialized learners, people in low-income communities and newcomer learners.
If this sounds like you, we can’t wait to have you learn with us.
