POSITION SUMMARY:
The Application Analyst is responsible for the delivery of effective software application support for their designated systems. This role participates and/or leads in investigation, recommendation, implementation and ongoing support of applications including system configuration, table maintenance, testing, provision of user access, delivery of reports, training of super users and staff, and day to day application support. This role works in collaboration with the project, technical and service teams to ensure applications are working as designed, delivering the value to the organization, and are safeguarded against unplanned changes. This role works closely with end user departments to ensure the applications are meeting the functional needs of the department.
For the Senior Role, a key element of the role is to act as liaison between hospital management and users, software vendors, and the other TransForm portfolios (Service, Technology, PMO) in the provision of application solutions and support.
The Senior Role is expected to provide leadership assistance to the management team in the following areas:
- Subject matter expertise to assist in definition of work assignments, application configuration and data standards development, and issues investigationescalation.
- Work stream leadership on major projects or associate PM on small to medium complexity initiatives.
- Coaching and mentoring of supporting staff.
- Acting as MRP (most responsible person) for assigned functional areas assists and support Account Managers on new requests investigations.
As part of the Applications, Integration and Development senior team, this role participates in the development of the overall information management strategy and plays a key role in stakeholder engagement across ESC.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Provides application support services including vendor engagement, system maintenance, testing, change management and coordination of training and communication with end users. Works in conjunction with Service Desk teams to address all escalated support calls.
- Responsible for preparing formal Request for Changes (RFC’s) documentation including backup and communication plans in support of approved Change Management procedures.
- Coordinates all system configuration and table build activities, either directly or in conjunction with vendors and super users to enable delivery of new systems or enhancements. Responsible for development of appropriate test plans to ensure comprehensive testing completed prior to any production system changes.
- Participates in the investigation and recommendation of solution proposals (including development of business cases, RFP’s) for assigned areas of responsibility (customers, subject areas).
- Participates in the delivery of application project activities for assigned work-streams in accordance with regional project management methodologies. Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) with respect to assigned systems and or functions.
- Coordinates all relevant design work for all integration, interfaces, report development, and data conversions. Responsible to ensure robust test plans are in place to properly validate changes and to ensure appropriate hospital management engagement.
- Coordinates the engagement of the technical team to procure and build required infrastructure components to support new or changed application solutions.
- Works with Service and other TransForm portfolios to provide support as per agreed SLA’s – including scheduled and unscheduled activities after hours as required.
- Participates in recommendations for assigned areas of responsibility
- Work assignments prioritization, scheduling, and issues management for assigned systems
- Shared responsibility for the upkeep and safeguarding of production systems including comprehensive testing for all system changes
- Responsible for delivery of assigned project roles (eg. Application Owner)
For Senior Position, additionally:
- Leads the investigation and recommendation of regional solution proposals (including development of business cases, RFP’s) for assigned areas of responsibility (customers, subject areas).
- Leads the delivery of application solution implementation activities including managing project resources and work activities for assigned work-streams in accordance with regional project management methodologies.
- Leads the ongoing investigation of newrelevant technology solutions through participation in various IT industry and Healthcare groups including establishing peer hospitalprofessional practice networks and strong vendor relationships. Knows the practice (workflow, data, reporting requirements) and leads continuous improvement activities to ensure effective use of deployed assets. Champions the establishment of regional standards on solution sets, data process flows, and reporting solutions.
- Leads relevant design work for all integration, interfaces, report development, and data conversions. Responsible to ensure robust test plans are in place to properly validate changes and to ensure appropriate hospital management engagement.
- Responsible for making system investment recommendations for assigned areas of responsibility
- Responsible for work assignments prioritization, scheduling, and issues management for assigned customer groups and or supporting staff (informal)
- Responsible for providing daily guidance to junior staff as assigned for projects and or areas of support. Includes work activity planning and prioritization, issues management and escalation, coaching & mentoring of junior staff (including temps, co-ops) but does not include formal HR management.
MUST- HAVES:
- Minimum three (3) year university degree or college diploma in Information Technology, Health Sciences, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience and or Certifications.
- Minimum two (2-4) years of experience in supporting application solutions or technology support services in a complex environment
- For Senior Role: Minimum four (4-6) years of experience in supporting application solutions or technology support services in a complex environment
- Experience in application implementation projects
- Experience in providing application support services
- Experience establishing and maintaining effective relationships with clients, vendors, & team members
WE VALUE:

- Minimal exposure to disagreeable conditions typical of an office position: exposed to stress and pressure associated with multiple priorities and deadlines
- Must be able to travel within the Southwestern Ontario area, when required
- Must be able to work after hours on occasion
