SALARY RANGE $102,230.00 - $116,170.00

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a key leader within the Information Technology Services team, the Manager, Business Applications plays a critical role in ensuring the effective management, support, and continuous improvement of the University’s supported applications. Reporting to the Director, Project Management and Business Applications, this role oversees a team of Business Analysts and Application Analysts responsible for the lifecycle management of core business applications, including implementation, enhancement, and optimization.
This position provides strategic direction on application management, ensuring alignment with institutional goals, policies, and best practices. The Manager will also drive project execution, leading cross-functional teams to deliver technology solutions that enhance operational efficiency, improve user experience, and support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Leadership & People Management: Assigns and oversees projects, defines team roles and standards, conducts performance reviews, supports professional development, manages recruitment and staffing, and handles employee relations including discipline and grievance response.
- Project Management: Leads medium-scale projects from planning through delivery, manages timelines, budgets, risks, and communications, and ensures quality and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Vendor Management: Oversees vendor contracts and performance, manages compliance and change, and identifies opportunities for service and cost improvement.
- Service Management: Ensures service levels are met, improves service delivery processes, and manages incident resolution and escalation.
- Business Applications Support: Acts as a product owner and solution architect, aligning IT services with business goals, supporting client needs, and leading the resolution of complex technical issues.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business or equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the department
- Three (3) years of progressive experience:
- Management in a technical department
- Management of all aspects of medium-sized, multi-phase projects, including budget management
- Recognized project management certification (Ex. PMP, Scrum, SaFe) along with strong knowledge of agile principles and practices
- Demonstrated ability to effectively:
- Communicate, both written and verbal
- Written - writing concise, grammatically correct business correspondence including analytical reports, budget submissions, project, and technical reports
- Verbal - ability to make oral group presentations to executive stakeholders
- Organize work and prioritize assignments to complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in workload; changes in assignments; pressures of deadlines; competing requirements; heavy workload
- Motivate others; stimulate people to effective action
- Negotiate and exchange ideas, information, and opinions with others to formulate policies and programs and / or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions, and solutions
- Work as part of a team; collaborating with colleagues and interact diplomatically with other campus departments and external stakeholders
- Communicate, both written and verbal
- Apply continuous improvement principles to learn and adopt new technologies
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- Project management
- System Analysis and Design
- Business Process Modeling
- Demonstrated experience in vendor management and capacity planning in a fast growth environment
- Demonstrated commitment for promoting and imbedding Indigenization, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in the in the delivery of strategic services.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- ITIL Certification
