Technology is everywhere, and it’s becoming more and more integrated into both our personal and professional lives. Even if your business isn’t producing a tech product, using the right tech effectively can help you become more versatile, sustainable, and most importantly, profitable.

Tech Enabled will gather 100+ SME business owners, tech enablers, tech lovers, press/media at our annual Tech Show in partnership with the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce. This is your chance to hear from acclaimed speakers, connect with the local tech community to help advance your business.

This year’s Tech Show is all about tech-enablement for small businesses. Hear from leading industry experts about the technology solutions and trends that will revolutionize small businesses. Network and mingle in the Kelcom’s Tech Lounge with dozens of exhibitors. This is your chance to ask the experts your most burning tech questions and challenges.

TECH WEEK:

HTML & CSS for Beginners (Chatham-Kent)

Time: 12pm-3:00pm
Location: SOAR Innovation

If you are looking to get your feet wet when it comes to programming, then this is the workshop for you. HTML and CSS are the backbone of all websites, and knowledge of them is a necessity if you are interested in things like web development, creating marketing emails, or even blogging! The web without HTML and CSS would be would be a world without colourful, pretty websites, not to mention the web applications we all use daily. It’s easy to learn, and was designed so that everyone – even non-programmers – can do it. No fancy programs are needed, just Notepad and a web browser!

TECH WEEK:

Virtual Reality with A-Frame (Chatham-Kent)

Time: 4pm-6:00pm
Location: SOAR Innovation

Learners will leave with a better understanding of A-Frame, including the many possibilities provided through the A-Frame Registry. We’ll practice using the built-in visual 3D inspector to test and use components from the Registry, so learners can continue to develop their projects from home.

TECH VOTE

There is one goal of Tech Vote and it’s to encourage our regional Tech Community to go out and vote in the 2019 Federal Election. No events are planned, however keep an eye out on social media for updates on useful tool and tech to assist you leading up to voting day.

A special Twitter Chat will be held on Tuesday, October 8th starting at 12pm where we will be talking Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship with Federal Candidates from #YQG and #CKont.

Attracting and retaining tech talent has always been one of the primary constraints on tech companies but as ‘traditional’ companies are becoming tech companies themselves this is becoming a more universal conundrum.

Tech Talent Day will look at building, growing and connecting our tech talent pipeline including highlighting local tech employees and employers.

The world is changing, and we want Windsor (Canada) to be ready. We’ve partnered with Canada Learning Code and their Code Mobile to make sure that Windsorites, particularly women, girls and people with disabilities, indigenous youth and newcomers – have access to the knowledge they need to prosper in our digital. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to get introduced to world of coding.

The day will also include a “Diversity and Inclusion” breakfast featuring keynote speaker, Claudette McGowan, leading a “Real Talk” conversation.

Have your chance to experience the future of mobility with our Mobility Pitch Challenge, Mobility Speaker Series and our very own Mobility Showcase featuring Canada’s largest publicly available Virtual Reality CAVE.

TECH AWARDS

The YQG Tech Awards are a fun, informal way of recognizing technology innovators of all stages for their achievement and success in our community. There’s no dress code and no speeches to give. We’ll be honouring all of our Tech Award winners with a unique, Windsor-made Tech Award created with the help of our #YQG tech friends.The YQG Tech Awards provide a fantastic opportunity to showcase the impactful leaders in the local tech sector and to strengthen networks within the tech community. Close to 150 people will attend, comprising tech entrepreneurs, CEOs and tech start-ups, plus corporate advisors, investors, tech consultants and media.

This year’s award will piggyback on the 4th Annual Nerd Olympics “Nerd Cup” Ceremony and will be followed by a special STEM Movie at Lakeshore Cinemas.
