Apply to be a Volunteer Mentor!

April 30, 2021 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

We are looking for High School students in Canada who are keen to engage young learners as an online Mentor in our Kids and Girls workshops (ages 9-12 years old)! You do not need any previous coding experience, we will teach you what you need to know!

You DO need to be comfortable learning to troubleshoot, having your video camera on during the workshops and getting youth to engage in the workshop!

Your role as a Mentor is to attend the online workshops, and you will answer questions in the chat, provide help and support to the learners in breakouts, and lead movement breaks and energizers! These workshops are virtual, so you can join from anywhere in Canada and are typically 2-3h in length.

You will be required to complete some mandatory training before volunteering as well as provide references. Once those are done you will be invited to volunteer at our workshops! When you sign up to volunteer at a workshop, you will be expected to log on before the learners, stay the full session and stay on little bit after to debrief.

We will be happy to provide you with a letter confirming your volunteer hours, if you need it for school or another program.

This opportunity is currently for 15-17 year olds. If you are 18 or will be turning 18 very soon, please contact us at chaptersupport@canadalearningcode.ca for opportunities to volunteer as an adult. If you are younger, we invite you attend our workshops at https://www.canadalearningcode.ca/experiences/ and we look forward to you volunteering with us in the future!
