Canada South Science City; a 5 Part UNI-COM Universe Series

A series of 5 popular interactive talks with distinguished University Professor Emeritus and physicist Bill Baylis  will be held in the Science Café.
The UNIVERSE—What is It (and how do we know)?

1.    Our evolving perception of cosmos from ancient times to the present(Jan. 29)
2.   The  structure of the universe and our place in it (February 5)
3.   Time and Distance Scales: how do we know? (February 12)
      a. Power of ten in time and space
      b. Development of meter sticks and clocks for different scales
      c. From radioactive dating to atomic clocks
      d. From parallax to Cepheid variables and supernovae as standard candles.
4.  Relativity and Light (February 19)
5.  The Quantum Universe (February 26)
