Re-Tooling the Windsor-Essex Workforce: Jobs in Renewable Energy
May 9, 2012 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
FreeFrom the media release:
“Skill profiles, training plans and local training opportunities are highlighted in Workforce WindsorEssex’s most recent report, Re-Tooling the Windsor-Essex Workforce: Jobs in Renewable Energy.
Set to launch in partnership with St. Clair College’s Employment Centre in Amherstburg (400 Sandwich St. S) on May 9, the report says our region has the skilled and experienced workers to meet the demands of renewable energy companies.
“Workers who are transitioning from the auto industry can learn to adapt their skills in this emerging industry and develop new skills through the top-up training described in the report,” says Denny Timm, project officer at Workforce WindsorEssex and co-author of the report.
Graduating students from the Reducing Energy Demand with Youth program will be in attendance as special guests. The REDY program, created by the non-profit organization First Work, provides hands-on, practical training that prepares youth for a range of construction work emphasizing energy efficiency. The event is open to the public. Those with a manufacturing background, in particular, are encouraged to attend. St. Clair College will speak about upcoming opportunities in training specific to renewable energy.”
