Robot Rendezvous: Igniting Math & Science Learning
July 12, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
FREEIt’s not a secret that automation is replacing jobs all over the world, but many new jobs will also be created through the process of automation and emerging technologies like AI and Machine Learning, and robotics.
In this workshop, you’ll discover how to introduce your primary learners to the field of programming and robotics. We’ll share beginner-friendly, hands-on activities that use popular tools like Sphero Spark, Root Robot, and Ozobot. Each activity will have explicit links to primary level mathematics and science. Teaching robotics will allow learners to apply concepts they’ve learned in their STEAM courses in a fun and tangible way, all while preparing them for our changing world.
This workshop is most appropriate for educators teaching grades 2-3.
Who is this for? Our Teachers Learning Code workshop has been designed for primary and middle school teachers with little to no coding experience to be able to teach coding fundamentals to their students.
Prerequisites: You do not need full-class robotics kits to use the activities presented, although access to the free Sphero Edu and iRobot coding apps, as well as the Ozoblockly website will enhance your learning experience.
What’s Included: An awesome lead instructor and industry mentors!
