SBC – Human Resources & Diversifying Your Business

Are you thinking of hiring for the first time but are not sure what’s required of you? Do you already have one or more employees? Whether you are wondering about the hiring process, about payroll and all it entails, or about your health and safety program – this workshop is for you. This session is a step-by-step guide for employers and includes an overview of the applicable legislation. It is an introductory level workshop designed to give a new or perspective employer an overview of what they need to know.

Diversifying Your Business

WEareABLE is a new program-initiative in Windsor-Essex aimed to educate local business owners and hiring managers about the facts, myths, and numerous benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities. By eliminating the barriers and stereotypes, we can create a positive pathway towards these individuals gaining competitive employment within our community.

Did you know:
• 2/3 of people with disabilities would rather work than collect ODSP
• 86% of employees who have a disability have average or above average attendance records
• There are wage subsidies available for employers to help pay wages
• You can reduce recruiting time and training costs by working with a service provider to hire a person with a disability

You will get to know the facts and statistics about employment for the disabled, as well as get testimonials of employers who have been successful in hiring these individuals. The speakers present real life experiences and obstacles they have experienced while trying to find employment, and they explain the process of hiring someone and the various agencies who can assist your business with finding and training individuals looking for employment. WEareABLE can assist your business with many disability employment and hiring questions.
