SBC presents- How to Get More Windsor-Essex Products in the Shopping Cart

December 7, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Hosted by WindsorEssex Small Business Centre, Economic Development Corporation
Presented by Peter Chapman, SKU Food, Halifax, Nova Scotia
Food businesses located in the Windsor-Essex region have a great supply of raw materials and innovative food entrepreneurs, and proximity to substantial Canadian and U.S. consumer markets is considerably beneficial.  The food industry is evolving and there are opportunities for producers, food entrepreneurs, and processors, who can compete effectively and efficiently.  Distribution channels are changing, allowing for more access to markets and consumers.  Producers, food entrepreneurs, and processors, who take advantage of these changes, will be well positioned to grow in the future.  Recent developments such as Amazon’s purchase of Whole Foods will accelerate the pace of change.
What will you learn? The goal is for attendees to be more savvy and know what the right approach should be in getting more products in the shopping cart.
Who should attend? Windsor-Essex food industry workers (producers, entrepreneurs and processors).
Who is the expert presenter? Peter Chapman understands the Canadian food industry, more importantly; he understands where it is going.  Our industry is changing fast and Peter is committed to helping food entrepreneurs and processors understand their customers and consumers.  Peter’s experience includes both sides of the desk.  Prior to working with suppliers and launching SKU Food, Peter worked for 19 years with Canada’s largest food retailer, Loblaw.  Peter is the author of A la cart: A supplier’s guide to retailers’ priorities and has provided food industry insights to Canadian Grocer, The Globe & Mail, Maclean’s magazine and Canada AM.
