Tech Town(Detroit); Power in The Pitch

Brainstorm, Pitch, Grow… Repeat!
In the Business Development entity of Y.A.B., Y.A.B. works with co-working spaces and business development organizations to help to change the narrative for women in entrepreneurship. With this new event series in partnership with TechTown, our mission is to further act as a pipeline by helping women to build their business brand effectively. TechTown is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, founded in partnership with Wayne State University, Henry Ford Health System and General Motors Corporation, and is located within the Woodward Technology Corridor SmartZone. With TechTown having programs that focus primarily on minorities and women, collaboratively Power in the Pitch will give women seeking success in their start-ups the opportunity to speak to the top resources in Michigan funding ideas today and in turn benefit from those resources by gaining direct access to a thriving network.
(1) Begin with Networking Session – Business Card Swap/Social Media Photo Booth/Complimentary Food and Drinks, (2) Attendees submit event idea in a bowl at registration and we select 10 event ideas to discuss and provide feedback (3) Feedback provided by a panel of top business gurus, funders and venture investors including:
Regina Ann Campbell, Managing Director of Place-Based Entrepreneurship, TechTown
Carolyn Cassin, President and CEO, Michigan Women’s Foundation, an organization that works to eliminate barriers to economic and social equality for women and girls
Dr. Nicole Farmer, President and Founder, LifeLine Business Consulting, a consulting business that helps entrepreneurs obtain funding for their ideas
Michael Forsyth, Director of Small Business Services, Motor City Match, a resource program that pairs new and expanding businesses with the spaces that will help them grow in Detroit and Retail Business Development Manager for the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation,  a private, non-profit corporation established in 1978 devoted exclusively to supporting Detroit’s economic development initiatives
Sheri Crawley, President and Founder, Pretty Brown Girl, a movement that empowers and inspires girls and women to celebrate their shades of brown with a simple yet powerful message
Amany Killawi, Co-Founder and COO of LaunchGood, a crowdfunding organization supporting Muslim communities and campaigns
This event is not just limited to entrepreneurs. The event is open to those who would like to pitch start-up ideas or those who would simply like to attend the event to network!

*Note: By RSVPing to our upcoming “Power in the Pitch” event, you are helping to contribute to our scholarship and to a young woman’s dream. Founded by Y.A.B. Member Danielle Dumas, The Y.A.B. Dream Executioner Scholarship is to aid young, ambitious women in the pursuit of their dreams. It is the aim of the foundation of this scholarship to continue to promote empowerment and encouragement to female entrepreneurs of color.

**Parking for the event is available at the lot directly next to TechTown, in the lot at the north east corner of Amsterdam and Cass and on the street. Please have your license plate number ready for when you sign in at the front desk of TechTown
