TechBoost: Accounting in the Cloud for Small Businesses

Generously funded by a Libro Credit Union Prosperity Grant, The TechBoost Program supports the growth and development of small businesses in Windsor-Essex by providing affordable training in information technology tools and products for business. TechBoost is an initiative of Hackforge, supported by the WindsorEssex Small Business Centre.

Why Take this Workshop? Cloud-based financial software allows you to access your system anywhere and on any device with an easy-to-use interface. The new tools offered by some of these solutions can automate tasks and save you time and money. Many cloud-based accounting apps have tons of useful integrations.
Goal: By the end of this workshop, participants will understand what online accounting software options are available, what the costs and what benefits implementation can have on your business. Participants will leave with a framework to to use to assess which solutions is right for them. Participants will also be ready to take ScaleUP Financial, a program that equips entrepreneurs with the resources to tackle their small business bookkeeping offered through the Small Business Centre.
We’ll cover:
The pros and cons of various cloud-based accounting software solutions like Xero, Quickbooks
Sage One, Freshbooks, Wave, Square (POS), Plooto, Hubdoc, Receipt Bank and Wagepoint
A general discussion of POS vs. Merchant
Terminals (AKA Debit/Credit Terminals)
Materials: If you would like to follow along using a laptop computer during this workshop, please feel free to do so. A computer is not required, however.
