SPEAKERS

Majid Charania, Director of Compliance, Competition Bureau of Canada

Majid is Director of Compliance with the Competition Bureau of Canada. He is responsible for promoting compliance by businesses of all sizes with the Competition Act and other labelling statutes that fall under the responsibility of the Bureau. Prior to assuming this role, Majid was Special Advisor to the Commissioner of Competition, the head of the Competition Bureau.

​He has significant enforcement experience leading or participating in complex merger reviews and abuse of dominance cases, both at the Bureau and at the European Commission as a visiting case handler. He also has experience litigating on behalf of the Commissioner and providing legal advice to the Bureau as counsel with Competition Bureau Legal Services, a unit within the Canadian Department of Justice. Prior to joining the Competition Bureau, he worked for a national law firm and in sales and marketing for a major integrated oil and gas company.

​Majid holds a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (International) designation from the Society for Corporate Compliance and Ethics, as well as a JD from the University of Ottawa and an international bachelor of business administration from the Schulich School of Business at York University.

Natasha Hope Morano, President, NHM Connect

​Natasha Hope Morano, M.A. is the President of NHM Connect, an Ottawa based consultancy company specializing in corporate and government relations. A demonstrated history of working in the non-profit sector has equipped Ms. Morano with providing her client base with high level strategic advice.

​Ms. Morano has grown her reputation by building authentic and respected relationships and connections with a diverse ecosystem of partners. Stewarding and cultivating relationships is a central pillar of her everyday operation and how she assists her clients in achieving their mandates.

​As former Vice President of the Economic Club of Canada, the National Podium of Record in Canada and having opened and managed the first satellite chapter of the Club in Ottawa, she has had the privilege of hosting some of the world’s most notable influencers and thought leaders. Miss Morano is respected by the business, academic, political, and diplomatic circles in Ottawa. This is something she is extremely proud of achieving and why she has been so successful in supporting her clients with their business needs.

​Natasha also proudly serves as the Director of Corporate and Government Affairs at Startup Canada where she finds unique opportunities for entrepreneurs to connect with government through the Startup Gov program.
