About CarbonOne
CarbonOne is a purpose-driven organization focused on fighting climate change in collaboration with Canadian Food and Beverage companies. Trusted by top brands, the CarbonOne platform simplifies the process of measuring, reporting, and reducing carbon emissions across the Agri-Food Value Chain—from farm to shelf.
Specializing in Scope 3 emissions, CarbonOne automates complex carbon accounting across all scopes, delivering accurate and auditable results efficiently and cost-effectively.
In today’s landscape, carbon measurement is no longer optional for Food & Beverage businesses. Regulatory mandates, retailer requirements, and other pressures make it essential. Managing carbon and reducing emissions also cuts costs, drives growth, attracts top talent, and widens access to capital to drive growth and profitability.
The Role: Make Us Smarter, Faster, Better
We’re looking for a curious tech tinkerer who loves AI, automation, and solving messy problems. You’ll help us integrate AI into everything we do—making CarbonOne more efficient, scalable, and smart.
If you love experimenting with new AI tools, writing scripts to kill tedious tasks, and building scrappy automations, you’ll thrive here.
Why Join Us?
- Work on meaningful projects that help businesses reduce carbon emissions.
- Experiment and innovate—you will have the freedom to test AI and automation solutions.
- Flexible hours and remote-first culture.
- Equity options for high-performing team members (based on performance and tenure)
- Grow into a leadership role as we scale. If you prove your ability to optimize and automate, there is room to shape the future of AI at CarbonOne.
- A flexible, supportive work environment that values deep thinking and creative problem-solving.
How to Apply
We are happy to see your resume, but we also encourage you to showcase your skills in whatever way best reflects your abilities. In addition to (or instead of) a traditional application, feel free to share:
- A short description of a project where you automated something or used AI creatively.
- A GitHub link, portfolio, or demo of something you built
- A short video where you walk through a tool you have explored and how you would apply it at CarbonOne.
Our Commitment to Inclusion
CarbonOne is an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity and encourage people of all backgrounds, and identities to apply. Further, we value neurodiversity and the unique perspectives it brings to problem-solving and innovation. We strongly encourage individuals on the autism spectrum and other neurodivergent candidates to apply for this role. If you are excited about this role but don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
Skills
- Experience with AI tools like OpenAI API, Google AI Studio, LangChain, or automation platforms like Zapier, or Make.
- Familiarity with data processing, APIs, or AI-driven workflow optimization.
- Knowledge of carbon accounting (a plus, but not essential—your AI skills matter more!).
Qualifications
- You’re a student or new grad that is legally eligible to work in Canada as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Education Requirements
- Undergraduate degree, or working towards a degree in a STEM field.
We don’t expect you to know everything about carbon accounting on Day 1. You will be paired with our Head of Product and Science to get up to speed on how our platform works. We provide:
- Technical onboarding.
- Training in carbon accounting tools and standards.
- Access to knowledge bases and peer support.
Responsibilities
- AI & Automation: Research, test, and implement AI tools to streamline processes across carbon accounting, reporting, sales and marketing.
- Workflow Optimization: Automate repetitive tasks and integrate systems to improve internal efficiency, including workflows related to emissions data and marketing efforts.
- Coding & Scripting: Build lightweight automations, APIs, or internal tools to boost team productivity.
- Tool Exploration: Identify and evaluate new AI-driven and no-code/low-code tools that can enhance our operations.
- Data Handling: Support emissions factor integration with AI-enhanced data processing (not manual data entry—automation-first approach!).
- Cross-Functional Projects: Collaborate with Product, Marketing, and Data teams.
