My Journey Down WEtech Lane

August 20, 2012in Blog 0 Comments

By: Vedant Pandey, Summer Finance Intern

WEtech Summer Intern, Vedant Pandey, poses with Gadget Guy’s, Rob Whent, Motorola Brick cellphone. Hello!

When I first came into WEtech, it was at the recommendation of a friend. I was previously involved in a group called Student in Free Enterprise (SIFE). Both organizations have similar mandates, to help entrepreneurs in our city. I had been a member of SIFE for 3 years before beginning my summer internship at WEtech.

As a finance intern, I helped with preparing budgets, government reporting, and implementing a new client management system. My career goals – becoming a chartered accountant – aligned perfectly with my internship position. I was also given the opportunity to apply my multimedia skills by creating videos to promote WEtech and its successes. Check it out!

Working with WEtech allowed me to apply the knowledge and skills that I have, but also provided me with professional development.

Working with the staff of this organization was a true privilege. All of my co-workers had very different backgrounds and experiences in business and offered invaluable insights.

I was also privileged enough to meet with many of WEtech’s different stakeholders including, board members, successful entrepreneurs, and clients.

As I complete my internship, I can honestly say that I have gained a new perspective on approaching my career ambitions. Regardless of what you do , you will face numerous challenges. Your passion is what will drive you to ultimate success. Where most people would give up, passion will keep you going. The key to success, is loving what you do enough to push yourself harder than you would ever have before.

I do eventually want to become an entrepreneur one day.  I hope that in the future I can continue to work with organizations like WEtech.

I look forward to continuing my participating with WEtech and hope to see everyone out in the very near future.
