Richmond Hill, ON: The Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) is pleased to announce it has partnered with KnowTheGame (KTG) www.knowthegame.ca to provide e-learning opportunities for coaches as part of the Continuing Education Program [CEP]. The program ensures every coach continues to develop their skills to create a high quality learning environment for all OMHA players.
The new OMHA Coach Refresher Online course provides a convenient method of ongoing learning for coaches and is designed to be accessible from personal computers. It is presented as an online curriculum and includes interactive multi-media tutorials, quizzes and printable downloads. It also enables coaches to access online resources and to complete the learning modules at their own pace.
“The OMHA believes that it is important to have highly knowledgeable and competent coaches that continue to learn and develop their skills to ensure a high quality learning environment for all OMHA players.” said OMHA Director, Development Programs, Ian Taylor. “We are pleased to provide coaches with various platforms for delivering our learning opportunities in a range of topics.”
The Continuing Education Program (CEP) for Coaches provides the opportunity for coaches to earn credits towards the renewal of their certification by attending specialty clinics, conferences, clinics and now online learning. The goal is to ensure each player has a qualified coach and to ensure coaches meet the needs of their athletes.
The online course carries a value 10 credit points. To renew certification, Coaches are required to earn a total of 20 credits points over a three (3) year cycle.
