PEO Invites Windsor-Essex Companies to Innovation Challenge

August 21, 2013in Opportunity Alerts 0 Comments

Do you know any innovative companies doing innovative work?
The Windsor-Essex Chapter of the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) is inviting local companies to enter the Windsor-Essex Engineering Innovation Challenge 2013 (WEEIC).
The WEEIC is part of their annual Innovation Station-Engineering Your Life (ISEYL) exhibition being held at the Devonshire Mall—September 13 to 15th—that showcases engineering and innovation to youth and the broader community.
Companies can enter the competition for the 2013 Innovation Challenge Award—the cost is FREE—by emailing Asif Khan, P.Eng at (sak50@chrysler.com) for more information or to register.
Competing companies are invited to set up a display at Devonshire Mall where last year over 10,000 people visited the three-day exhibition.
If your company is not interested in the Engineering Innovation Challenge, but would like the opportunity to sponsor the event, please contact Sean McCann at spmccann13@hotmail.com or call 519.890.7377.
The cost is $100
Companies have the option of entering their innovation project in one of the following three categories:
Basic Research/Applied Research – Project advances scientific knowledge with or without specific practical application.
Experimental Development/New or Improved Product  – Project that achieves technological advancement to create new or to improve existing materials, devices or products.
Experimental Development/New or Improved Process – Project that achieves technological advancement to create new or to improve existing processes.
Projects will be judged on four main criteria:
i.      Project objectives, solutions, achievements
ii.     Level of complexity of innovation
iii.    Contribution to improve the social, economic, environmental quality of life.
iv.    Presentation
This is an excellent opportunity for local companies to connect with the community, showcase their innovations, and to promote engineering to high school and elementary students, as well as the community at large.
