Last week WEtech Alliance hosted their Annual End of Summer Social & BBQ. The event gathered over 60 members and clients for an afternoon of food, friends and fun. Thanks to the generous support of our membership, WEtech was able to present a cheque in the amount of $278 to the CAW Local 200 Computers for Kids program along with computer equipment for their recycling program. About CAW Local 200 Computers for Kids
Computers For Kids is a registered charity comprised of working people who are dedicated to improving the lives of everyone in our community through education and training. Our innovative approach to technology transforms unwanted computers into educational tools for children. Increased reliance on computers in our society has made availability of computers and computer training to our youth increasingly important.
Computers for Kids relies on the donation of computers to fulfill the requests of deserving applicants. Without donations, they wouldn’t be able to provide our community with this type of service. They will put to good use computer of any age and type. Once deemed re-usable, their technicians repair and refurbish the donated computers.
Because data security is extremely important to them, no computer is donated without having its hard drive wiped clean. They ensure that all of a donated computer’s existing data is eliminated and they install a new operating system on each unit before it reaches its new owner. Any hard drive which is designated for recycling is dismantled and shredded. To further ensure the security of your data, they employ government-approved methods to clean out your data from your old hard drive permanently. The option to use this service is available upon request.
