The Urbanite, Windsor’s newest community newspaper, releases its first issue Wednesday, Dec. 4!
The Urbanite will deliver timely and dynamic coverage of news, arts and culture to inform and connect urban dwellers to relevant people, places and events in Windsor. The biweekly tabloid has a print distribution of 10,000 copies to 250 local establishments, newsstands and street boxes throughout Windsor neighbourhoods. The newspaper is paired with a responsive website, urbanitenews.com, which accommodates all mobile platforms to ensure that readers get the content they want in the format they desire. The Urbanite is the first newspaper in Southwestern Ontario to offer interactive editorial content and advertising through Layar, a leader in augmented reality app development.
“Layar is a free, easy-to-use mobile app that allows readers to access exclusive content by scanning the newspaper with a mobile device. The newspaper comes alive to provide a unique experience,” said Natasha Marar, publisher/editor of The Urbanite. “We are excited to bring an alternative, energetic voice to local journalism.”
