Through the efforts of the WEtech team, FIRST Robotics, the Windsor Essex First Organizing Committee, University of Windsor, St. Clair College, Platinum and Gold sponsors- Valiant Machine, CentreLine, Union Gas and others… W.E. rocked!
Over 1500 high school students from 40 teams from Ontario, Quebec, Michigan, Ohio and New York inspired every attendee through their eager and energized commitment, entrepreneurialism, skills, collaboration and compassion. These are our leaders of the future.
The relevance of this particular event for our region is of high significance. It is of great importance for our local economy to provide new talent for our cluster of automation, machine, and tool and die shops. By exposing our young boys AND girls to STEM opportunities in academia as well as Industry, we will help create the needed talent pool and more importantly, be helping our youth stay in the region with greater career opportunities. These are the tools required to attract future advanced manufacturing and innovation investment for the successful economic future of this region. These Youth and STEM are the critical investments required for Windsor-Essex.
FIRST Robotics is the pioneer in creating this innovative initiative that has such broad impact and it is exciting! And WE are extremely fortunate that W.E. is now home to WEGLFRC permanently.
The collaborative efforts of the volunteers, academia & industry was a marvel -which received high marks from FIRST Global, especially for a rookie Tournament! Bravo to all involved & Thank you!
We are proud to say that two local robotics teams, Sandwich and Holy Names, are advancing to world championships in St. Louis
