KELCOM’s document division has signed an agreement with 3D Systems, a U.S. based company and the largest producer of 3D printers in the world. Windsor based KELCOM is currently the only supplier and local service provider of this up and coming technology in the Windsor/London corridor and offers an extensive and high performance line of 3D printers, materials, software and printing services. The agreement will give the Windsor-Essex area its first access to buying and servicing professional grade 3D printers.
The company recently celebrated their 45th anniversary and has been the first to introduce a number of new technologies.
“We have been at the forefront of innovation for 45 years. 3D Printing provides Windsor, Sarnia, London with cutting edge technology that has the potential to revolutionize traditional manufacturing and providing greater efficiencies to other sectors like healthcare and engineering as well”, says Leonard Colucci, Manager at KELCOM Document Division.
Being an early pioneer in the region on this new technology has many benefits especially within the region’s dominant manufacturing and tool and die industries. While traditional manufacturing may be one of the most obvious uses of 3D printing, KELCOM has diversified into other service-based industries that can leverage the speed and efficiency of this new printing technology. Currently working with a few different manufacturing and healthcare leaders, KELCOM is working with Proto Manufacturing to print custom designed 3D parts that are used in the manufacturing of X-ray measurement equipment. KELCOM is also working with a local dental lab and dentist on improving the turn-around time and cost of producing surgical guides using 3D printers. This use brings 3D printing into the view of the average person who would normally not have exposure to it. As the technology continues to evolve, other healthcare and service based industries will take note.
KELCOM Document Division is also working with WEtech Alliance to extend the advantages of additive manufacturing to local Companies and entrepreneurs. They have partnered for the 3D tech show on October 16th from 4-8 in KELCOM’s showroom located at 8605 Twin Oaks, Windsor. David Moore, district manager from 3D Systems will be on hand to talk about the latest in 3D printing technology and we will have three different machines in operations along with various print samples on display.
