National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) is a cross Canada celebration of the significance of our country’s science and technology history, the important of science and technology in today’s world, and Canada’s ongoing role as a world leader in innovation. To celebrate NSTW, WEtech asked its Community Partners to host an event featuring science and technology. We are happy to share with you some of the great events happening locally in celebration of NSTW!
Windsor Public Library presents App Café (Budimir Library)
October 15th
Enjoy a hot drink and a sweet treat as you set up your mobile device or tablet to access free ebooks, audiobooks, music, movies, tv-shows, magazines and language learning tools using apps available to library cardholders. You must bring your own device and have a valid library card. Read more.
Kelcom Document Division presents 3D Tech Show
October 16th
3D Systems will be demonstrating three different 3D print technologies. David Moore, district manager from 3D Systems will be on hand to talk about the latest advancements and how 3D printing has helped thousands of companies. Read more.
Canada South Science City, the region’s hands-on science centre, plans to project the video feed of the live interview of Chris Hadfield with Symphony Maestro Robert Franz during the afternoon of October 17th in their Tidepool Café. The interview runs from 1:45 to 2:15 PM, but they would like the audience to be in place by 1:30, and will lead discussion and take questions about Chris and space travel until about 2:30. There is no charge for this service but space is limited. Seating will be made available to those who are first to register. Please call them at 519-973-3667 to register or for questions. Read more.
WEtech and Hackforge present HackWE 3.0 Hackathon using Science Open Data
October 17th and 26th
WEtech Alliance and Hackforge are collaborating on HackWE 3.0, a hackathon focused on open data from the sciences. They’re looking for teams of tech students or professionals to compete, and science people to help competitors interpret the data and solve useful problems with it. Read more.
