Initiative to celebrate regional Talent, Tech, and Community on June 12 through 19
Windsor, ON, May 5, 2015 – Windsor180, presented by YKNOT Windsor-Essex and WEtech Alliance thanks to the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, is using talent, tech, and community to flip this region on its head.
On June 19, 2015, at the St. Clair Centre for the Arts from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, keynote speakers Dave Wilkin, Founder of Ten Thousand Coffees, and Keanin Loomis, President of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, are joining ten partner organizations and dozens of community influencers for the Windsor180 Summit, a conference designed to bring young talent closer to our region with local knowledge, modern skills, and the right networks.
Windsor180 Summit is preceded by Windsor180 Week, a series of seven nightly community events beginning on June 12, each themed on a different aspect of community engagement, including music, volunteerism, tourism, civic, recreation, and entrepreneurship.
“Windsor180 was born from my favorite question to spark innovation,” said Dan Brown, Coordinator, YKNOT Windsor-Essex & Windsor180 Chair. “What if we did the opposite?”
“Technology has a role to play when it comes to community engagement. There are tons of technologies out there that enable us to do more in terms of how we engage with our community. Things like social media, crowdsourcing, online collaboration tools, geo-mapping, data visualization and online decision-making enable us to do more than ever before,” said Yvonne Pilon, President and CEO, WEtech Alliance.
