Windsor, ON, June 12, 2015 – Over 200 established and emerging community leaders will take over St. Clair Centre for the Arts during the Windsor180 Summit this Friday, June 19.
Presented by YKNOT Windsor-Essex and WEtech Alliance, Windsor180 features a series of breakout sessions and keynote speeches around issues of talent, tech and community in an effort to reimagine our city. The summit follows an ongoing week of themed public events showcasing different aspects of community engagement.
Keynote speakers Dave Wilkin, founder of Ten Thousand Coffees, and Keanin Loomis, President of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, are joining 10 community organizations and influencers in a conference designed to bring young talent closer to our region with local knowledge, modern skills and the right networks.
Loomis will share his passion and expertise in community development during a 1 p.m. presentation. “I’m thrilled to speak with Windsor’s talented change-makers about the insights I’ve gained, such as they are, from the circuitous career path that took me from a Washington DC law firm to the role I now play as the leader of the business community in the middle of the revitalization of Hamilton.”
Sandra Pupatello, CEO of WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation, will introduce Wilkin’s keynote speech at 3:40 p.m.
“We can’t wait to share the final piece of Windsor180 – the Summit,” said Dan Brown, Windsor180 organizer and YKNOT Windsor-Essex co-ordinator. “For months, our team has been working hard to present a sold out conference of talent, tech and community to raise the profile of Windsor-Essex.”
Breakout session presenting organizations include: WEtech Alliance, City of Windsor, Workforce WindsorEssex, Detroit Bus Company, WindsorEats, LucasWorks!, Leadership Windsor/Essex, EPICentre, Hackforge and Pathway to Potential. The event runs from 1-6 p.m. and is followed by an after party networking opportunity at Craft Heads Brewing Company (89 University Ave. W.).
