Member Spotlight: Memarden

August 11, 2015in Client News 0 Comments

What is the Memarden?

Memarden is an e-learning platform that allows teachers (and students) to create lessons in minutes, then automatically converts them into games and activities.

Our idea is that technology should not overpower the voice of the teacher – it should enhance it. In order to do that, teachers have to be able to create lessons that align with their face-to-face teaching in minutes.

It is also that we want to encourage students to create their own lessons, gain confidence as others take their content in games and activities and gain a passion for their topics that leads them to what they want to do with their lives.

What Products/services do you provide?

Memarden is an e-learning platform that gamifies lessons. A teacher or student can create a lesson with video, audio, text and images, in 5-15 minutes.

Memarden automatically converts lessons into games and activities. It also reports on student engagement and results and has a safe internal social network.

It runs on PCs and Macs, iOS and Android phones, tablets, SmartBoards, and even Dance Pads.

Anything new and exciting happening within your company?

We completed a one-year pilot and just launched in the spring of 2015.

We are conducting a crowdfunding campaign from the 3rd week of August through Sept.

How did you come up with your company name?

Memarden is a new word in all languages. Our dream is of a new global way of learning, so we created a name that will grow its own meaning in each new language.

Memarden was created from two words:

Meme is an idea that spreads from person to person and culture to culture. Memes define cultures, and memes help people live better lives. Creating fire is a meme, and voting for leaders is a meme.

Garden is a place where beautiful and useful things thrive and grow together in a riot of color and scent and sounds

Memarden is a place where the ideas from around the world can grow and thrive, where the best ideas can rise to the top and be taught and learned for the betterment of all.

What tech gadget or resource (i.e. blog, magazine, online tool, app, Youtube video, etc) has played a role in growing your company?

Social Media has played a big part in our getting to our customers. We use Hootsuite to publish to our social media accounts.

We also support Dance Pads as an input device for our games, which is fun for kids, and also an accessibility feature for some special needs students.

What idea do you have to help accelerate our local Tech community. Tell us in 140 characters. We’ll tweet it!

What if students can make educational games without programming? Will they blaze a trail that becomes their calling for their life?

What are your social media links and website URL?
