Windsor, Ontario Canada – Monday, November 16th, 2015 – WEtech Alliance, along with 16 regional partners from across Windsor & Essex County, kicked off Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) by launching the Windsor-Essex Entrepreneur Support Network (ESN) – a road map for entrepreneurial support in our region.

GEW is the world’s largest celebration of innovators & job creators with over 130 countries participating worldwide.

Ward 1 Councillor Fred Francis proclaims Nov 16-22 Global Entrepreneurship Week in the City of Windsor.

Ward 1 Councillor Fred Francis read a Proclamation from The City of Windsor declaring November 16-22 Global Entrepreneurship Week and acknowledged the importance of entrepreneurship to our community – the first such proclamation from any municipality in Canada.

Warden Tom Bain brought greetings on behalf of the County of Essex.

The Windsor-Essex Entrepreneur Support Network is an infographic designed to help entrepreneurs find organizations providing business assistance in Windsor-Essex County. Users can target the exact support they need based on their business stage and the type of assistance they’re looking for. The document is being distributed across Windsor-Essex in print form as well as being made available online at bit.ly/supportWE.

“Entrepreneurship is the foundation of our community’s prosperity,” says Yvonne Pilon, President and CEO of WEtech Alliance. “Each of the sixteen organizations gathered here today have an important role to play in the success of our region’s entrepreneurs and each one has a stake in the economic success of our region. We now have a road map, and we know the way forward is collaboration”.

Rakesh Naidu, CEO (Interim) of the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation added, “It’s important to provide entrepreneurs an ecosystem that makes it easy to access services and programs, and contributes to their success. The ESN initiative is a good step in this direction.”
