Passion Leads To Persistence: Local Hockey Veterans Score With Success of Shooter Tutor

December 1, 2016in Tech News 0 Comments

perfectashot2Windsor, ON, October 19, 2016– Two Windsor hockey coaches have developed a new product to improve players’ skill and accuracy. Jimmy Sonmez and John Nelson, long-time friends and co-owners of Proven Performance Hockey Academy, have spent almost ten years developing a hockey training tool called Perfectashot.

Perfectashot is a tool used for improving the accuracy and reaction of hockey players. The product consists of a hockey net featuring the outline of a mock goalie and lights outlining possible scoring corners around said goalie. Perfectashot also includes a smartphone app which can be programmed to create practice sessions specific to each user.

“Are we crazy? You ask yourself that all the time,” said Sonmez, recounting the struggles of developing the product. Sonmez and Nelson have spent the majority of their lives playing and coaching hockey in Southwestern Ontario, having spent very little time apart since their youth. Both coaches have been well-trained in hockey and sportsmanship, and have credited their passion for their success.

“I think our best attribute is that we’re passionate about teaching, we’re passionate about our product, and passion leads to persistence. […] That passion doesn’t disappear. As is matures from being an idea to on the shelves selling, we’re ready for it,” said Sonmez.

“It comes down to trying to make the kids be the best they can be, and passion will lead them […] We’re not here to get them to the NHL. We’ll help, but there’s also family members, peers, trainers, coaches […] We’re just a piece of the puzzle, and Perfectashot is a piece of the puzzle, too,” said Nelson.

Although Perfectashot has already received rave reviews and excitement from the local hockey community, the product is not yet available on the shelves, with pre-order shipments arriving in early December this year.
