Session 1: Lancer Engineering Camp

Engineers are responsible for innovation and change in today’s world. Engineers use the latest technologies and research to design new products and systems that impact the world around them in a positive way.
UWindsor Engineering invites children ages 8 to 12 to take part in hands-on engineering activities at the university’s engineering summer camp. This is a 5-day hands-on camp, from July 9-13, 2018.
Upon arrival, campers will be divided by age: 8–9 and 10–12. Participants will be introduced to a variety of engineering related concepts, including aerodynamics, forces and motion, fluid dynamics, material strength, and the design process.
This full-day starts with an educational half-day session in our-state-of-the art engineering building on campus, the Ed Lumley Centre for Engineering Innovation (CEI). The afternoon will include outdoor activities and swimming at the St. Denis Centre.
*Female registrants in this year’s UWindsor Lancer Engineering Summer Camp will be eligible for a discount thanks to a grant provided by Union Gas and Build-A-Dream to encourage young women to explore engineering and participate in engineering-related activities.

Girl STEMpowerment (Grade 5 to 8)

Life Skills: Mindfulness, Conflict Management, and Confidence
This camp works to empower young women to realize their potential and to discuss their presence in STEM fields. This is designed for anyone who identifies as a girl and who wants to come together with other girls to discuss ways that they can make a difference. Topics include but are not limited to careers in STEM, medicine, environment, chemistry, engineering, and animals.

Innovative Designers (Grades 4 to 6)
July 23 to 27
Life Skills: Problem Solving, Creative thinking, and Giving and Receiving Feedback.
Campers will learn about innovative ideas and discoveries made in STEM fields while learning what it takes to make inventions of their own. This camp will get kids thinking about what problems exist in the world and how they could use discoveries in STEM to make improvements. Topics include but are not limited to Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, building and design, and technology.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Team (Grade 4 to 6)
July 30 to August 3
Life Skills: Critical Thinking, Problem solving, and Teamwork.
This camp will offer hands-on activities in various STEM topics from Biology/ Living things to Programming as well as engineering design challenges and adding/ subtracting. Topics include but are not limited to various types of engineering, habitats and species, math and riddles, chemistry, and building and design.

University of Windsor Lancer Summer Camps
SCIENCE DISCOVERY CAMPS (NEW) Creating, Building and Programming:
This camp will introduce participants to the world of possibilities in science. Each day of camp will focus on a different area of science relevant to our everyday experiences, such as health, the environment, and the physical sciences. Activities will include mini experiments, projects, demonstrations, and science themed games. The science portion of this camp will take place in the Faculty of Science, primarily in Essex Hall. Limited to 20 participants.

BIOLOGY CAMP (NEW):
This camp introduces participants to various biological concepts and diverse areas of study in the biological sciences. The camp is composed of five biology learning modules that include interactive hands-on activities in the areas of cell and cancer biology, microbiology, anatomy and physiology, and animal behavior and ecology. This is a full day camp in which the educational portion is a half day that will take place in the Biology Building labs and the other half will include outdoor activities and swimming at the St. Denis Centre. Limited to 24 participants.
