Tech Week YQG Returns Virtually in 2021

Connect to Tech in Week-long Community Celebration March 22nd – 28th

Windsor, ON (February 24, 2021) – Tech Week YQG is set to return digitally this year, March 22nd-28th, offering a collaborative series of events spearheaded by WEtech Alliance and the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation (WE EDC). This week brings together tech leaders, founders, talent, researchers, investors, and the broader community.

This year the week will be delivered entirely online and feature a number of high-profile speakers including Bruce Croxon (Managing Partner, Round 13 Capital) and Paul Zikopoulos (IBM) who will be kicking off the week and presenting at WE EDC’s Emerging Technologies in Automation Virtual Conference.

This week-long event is the largest regional technology festival dedicated to tech, talent and community.

“Tech Week was founded on encouraging collaboration, celebrating regional success stories and innovators and inspiring the community to get involved in all aspects of technology, said President and CEO of WEtech Alliance, Yvonne Pilon. Given the year we just had, now more than ever is the time to put a spotlight on technology. Technology will be a key driver behind our recovery and helping businesses to improve their digital capability and equipping local people with the tech skills and knowledge just makes sense.”

“Tech Week is a great opportunity to show why Windsor-Essex is leading the way when it comes to emerging technologies and innovation. As COVID has put the brakes on in-person events, this year we are pleased to integrate our annual Emerging Technologies in Automation Conference and Cybersecurity events with Tech Week,” said President and CEO of WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation, Stephen McKenzie

The schedule for Tech Week YQG 2021 includes:

Emerging Tech Days powered by WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation – will kick off the week with the Emerging Technologies in Automation Virtual Conference on Monday March 22nd and 23rd. This event will feature renowned speakers and women entrepreneurs who will share their journeys to success and showcase the technologies, skills and solutions they have developed and implemented. Emerging Tech Days will continue on Tuesday, March 23rd with a ‘Community Cybersecurity’ presentation.

Tech Mobility Day powered by Windsor Essex Economic Development Corporation – will focus on automotive cybersecurity. The event will include an automotive cybersecurity overview, presented by A.J. Khan, CEO of Vehiqilla followed by a panel discussion on cybersecurity. The event will take place Wednesday, March 24th.

Tech Homecoming Day powered by WEtech Alliance – will bring together Windsor-area expats, alumni, newcomers and regional leaders to reconnect and reinvest with the place they once called (or will soon call) home for discussions centered around turning Windsor-Essex into a Hub of Innovation. This event will take place Thursday, March 25th.

Tech Talent Days powered by WinHacks – will explore the world of mobility and feature industry experts and companies who are transforming the way we move people and goods. This years’ event will feature similar themes, challenges, and goals, while once again breaking new ground for digital events. This three-day event will be held virtually on Friday, March 26th through 28th.

Tech Awards Days powered by TekSavvy – will honour the 2021 Tech Award winners in a special week-long presentation on social media. This event will be held throughout the week with winner videos – produced by Media Street Productions – announced daily starting Monday, March 22nd.

The week is free-to-attend and gives unique access to experts and thought-leaders who will be sharing knowledge on subjects such as emerging technologies, cybersecurity, mobility, and community innovation.
