3D Printing: Think It. Print It.

FREEThe world of manufacturing is undergoing a major shift in how products are designed, prototyped, and built. One of the key technologies driving this shift is 3D printing & scanning. With the support of partners and The University of Windsor, WEtech is bringing the topic of 3D Printing to the forefront in Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.
In this session a panel of experts from Industry, University of Windsor and the 3D Printing Community will introduce you to Rapid Prototyping technology and discuss what the future of 3D printing & scanning holds. Learn about what technologies and materials are being used today and more importantly, tomorrow.
The event aims at raising awareness of 3D Printing & Scanning and introducing concepts and strategies for Rapid Prototyping:
– The importance and strategic use of 3D Printing/Scanning;
– The process from Idea to Prototype to Production; and
– Useful resources and tips.
The future of manufacturing is already around the corner!

James Janeteas
President, Cimetrix Solutions
James Janeteas is the founder and President of Cimetrix Solutions. For the past 25 years, James has been engaged in the design, engineering and manufacturing sectors within a variety of verticals – consumer products, medical devices, automotive and aerospace to name a few. With his comprehensive manufacturing background, James is an Additive Manufacturing industry authority, providing recommendations on how to best leverage Additive Manufacturing to dramatically impact business processes.
Mark Barfoot
Managing Director, Hyphen
As managing director of Hyphen, Mark is responsible for overseeing Hyphen’s day-to-day operations.
Before taking on this role in the newly-opened Hyphen, Mark oversaw and expanded Christie’s in-house product development capabilities, eventually making Christie’s service center Canada’s widest ranging prototyping and environmental center under one roof. This full-service center is a vital component of product development for Christie and has been opened to the public as Hyphen, a Christie enterprise.
Mark joined Christie in 2000 taking on roles that focused on the engineering processes and policy standards for Christie’s engineering group. It was his passion for continuous product design improvement that led into his current role.
Before joining Christie, Mark worked for two years at COM DEV International Ltd., a manufacturer of space hardware, where he conducted thermal and vibration analysis/testing.
Mark has a B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada and is a member of the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). Mark is also President on the board of the Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG).
In his spare time, he mentors engineering design projects and competitions at the University of Waterloo, and serves on the Industrial Advisory Committee for the NSERC/Waterloo Chair in Design Engineering (WCDE) at the University of Waterloo.
