Netmon and Jose’s Team Up in the Name of Food Safety

With the latest Canadian beef recall still looming the importance of food safety is being stressed and questioned by opposition politicians.

Jose’s Bar and Grill owner Ernie Nesbitt wanted to ensure quality control regulation met the highest possible standards of food safety, which is why he enlisted the skills of Enviromon, a division of Netmon Inc., to help make safe food storage easier. Enviromon installed a temperature monitoring system that uses water resistant sensors coupled with custom software to provide a visual representation of temperatures as well as comparing them to previous readings. Individual cooling unit temperatures can be monitored at all times from any computer.  The software also allows Nesbitt and key staff to be alerted by email or SMS in the event that a cooling system exceeds a pre-set warning limit.

“This is the kind of software that should be mandatory in all restaurants,” said Eric Lamoreux, owner at Netmon. “This implementation of technology is a step in the right direction and hopefully more businesses catch on.”

Enviromon’s expertise was enlisted for the 2012 London Olympics where a similar system of sensors and monitoring units were used. These water resistant sensors were mounted inside of the actual coolers and freezers and were connected to Securityhawk base units. The solution also included Enviromon’s Cloud-Hawk web based application. The Cloud-Hawk application can be accessed from anywhere outside of the customer’s internal network and can also be accessed from any device with a web browser

Jose’s Leamington location is also being outfitted with the same system which will be accessible along with the Windsor location through a single console.

This new system provides Jose’s Management with an early warning system when cooler and freezer temperatures are going out of control, thus mitigating potential conditions which could endanger the health and food safety of patrons.
