(Windsor Ontario – November 1st 2012) Windsor’s own Unconquered sun Solar Technologies Inc. announced today their immediate acquisition of all Siliken’s Canadian solar manufacturing assets. The acquisition consists of eight vacuum laminating ovens and complete associated automation. The purchase effectively increases Unconquered Sun’s manufacturing capacity from 18 Mega Watts to 55 Mega Watts per year and solidifies the company’s position as the leading manufacturer of photovoltaics in the Province of Ontario. The move comes as part of a planned expansion to take advantage of a possible positive “Proposal 3” vote on the November ballot in Michigan, as well as increase Unconquered Sun’s capability to export product to the ever growing U.S. market.
“The recent decision by the U.S. to place tariffs on Chinese solar products is a game changer. This rapidly increases the need for us to execute our U.S. growth strategy. Additionally, the recent release of FIT 2.0 contracts in the Province of Ontario will see demand for our modules peak in 2013 and 2014. This expansion gives us the manufacturing capacity needed to meet that demand”. Joseph Papic – Vice President
Unconquered Sun will ramp up production capability in the current quarter. Full production is forecasted for the first quarter 2013.
