What is Daedas? What products/services do you provide?
Daedas is an energy information and engagement start-up in Windsor’s downtown core. We take real-time energy data and provide analytics and recommendations to users. We make things easy to use and easy to understand and work toward a high level of customer engagement in everything we do. Using techniques across a wide range of studies, from machine learning and artificial intelligence to psychology and behavioural science, we aim to help people have a sustainable impact on their environments.
What does the perfect customer look like for you?
The ideal customer is a company looking for new ways to identify opportunities to increase profitability by decreasing overhead expenses. Our focus is industrial manufacturing and food processing facilities, although we have capabilities in commercial, institutional, and agricultural facilities. We are currently in the process of seeking beta clients. Ideally these clients should have knowledge of energy management information systems (EMIS) with metering and sensor networks existing in their facilities. This is not a requirement as we do have alliance partnerships with sensor manufactures, but clients that are currently using an EMIS would be able to provide useful insight into problems and shortcomings of existing technologies.
Anything new and exciting happening with your company?
We have recently pitched projects to the University of Windsor Computer Science department. Four undergraduate students are currently working on two projects as part of their fourth year curriculum. Their research and development work will help Daedas with the development of new tools and features that will enhance system usability.
Daedas is also sponsoring a hackathon in collaboration with WEtech Alliance. The hackathon will engage computer science students from St. Clair College and the University of Windsor. Daedas will provide the students with an energy data set. The students will have less than 48 hours to code a solution to a problem and gamify the user experience.
What’s your favourite technology gadget?
As a technology start-up our favourite gadgets are smartphones and laptops. They are essential to effective communication and development of our software. Recently, the team has been eyeing the new Samsung smartwatch.
Why did you join WEtech Alliance?
Daedas joined WEtech to gain exposure to the technology culture that exists in the area. Working in the Downtown Windsor Business Accelerator has enabled us to make valuable connections and increase the growth of our business.
