At What Level Do You See Your Business 5 Years From Now?

June 18, 2014in Blog 0 Comments

Dr. Karim Amellal

I had the privilege to meet with business owners during the last 8 months at WEtech in the Windsor-Essex region. I can attest that I have great respect for the business owners who work long hours to keep their doors open for business and secure jobs for their employees. However, something that we often forget to do during our daily busy schedules, while dealing with human resources, financials, invoices, sales, etc., is to stop, step back and “think out of the box”. I may sound unrealistic but believe me some business owners/entrepreneurs applauded me in waking them up! Yes waking them up out of a comfort zone whether they make small or big profits that potentially may shift the business to adapt to current market conditions to stay competitive. As simple as reviewing their business plan which states a 5 year plan to re-evaluating and modifying it to reflect current situations in the marketplace in terms of customer demands and prices. I truly believe that entrepreneurs start businesses because firstly they want to be their “own boss” and secondly because they want to follow their passion and dream. Having said that, it is fundamentally right to be aggressive and hope for the best performance.  It’s a jungle out there! You have to be on your toes at all time and make sure you have the latest and greatest technology that can make your company more efficient and profitable: Do more with less!!! It is also a “pride” thing to be the pioneer of something unique and technologically challenging, but still successful. More importantly, please stimulate those minds to be creative and innovative to create a niche product that “no one in the world makes”! That way you can (bump up)set your prices as you (wish) validated since you’re the only one providing that product or service. It’s all about taking the time and investing the money to “shake up” your company to take it to the next level! What are we afraid of? What is the hesitation? Why limit ourselves to something small while we can build something big and unique? We have lots to offer in this region which has great potential! So after reading this blog, I am hoping you will take 30 minutes of your busy schedule to re-assess everything you do within your business and project yourself in the future 5 years from now and ask yourself the question: ”At what level do I see my business 5 years from now?”. PLEASE JUST DO IT! I did it by leaving a job — to join the WEtech’s entrepreneurial minds to contribute to the business owners and entrepreneurs in the Windsor Essex region. We are building together a smart and technological community creating and keeping this momentum to secure a better future for –the next generations to come! I remain very confident that this region is experiencing a major mindset change!
