What is Scribendi? What products/services do you provide?
Scribendi.com is the world’s largest provider of English language editing and proofreading services. We help scientists get their papers published in academic journals, we help writers get their novels published, and we help businesses present a professional image to their customers.
Anything new and exciting happening within your company?
We have a lot of exciting things on the go at the moment. We recently released a WordPress plugin so that blog owners can get their blog posts proofread before they publish them. We also released a series of grammar, editing, and proofreading courses for the general public (e.g., www.GrammarCamp.com).
Where did the name Scribendi come from?
The name Scribendi comes from the Latin phrase “cacoethes scribendi,” which means “the insatiable urge to write”.
What’s your favorite technology gadget and why?
I’d say our favourite devices are our BlackBerry phones. They’re secure, the BBM app can’t be beat, and our models have the physical keyboards that we prefer because they’re faster to use and not prone to auto-correct fails!
Why did you join WEtech Alliance?
We joined WEtech Alliance for two reasons: one, we wanted to tap into the local expertise and resources for some of the IT issues we deal with from time-to-time, and two, we wanted to help develop the digital economy in Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex.
