Windsor, ON – February 4, 2015 – Pathway to Potential is excited to announce the next Windsor SOUP event date as February 8, 2015. The event will continue to be hosted at the Walkerville Brewery (525 Argyle Road) by Enactus Windsor Essex and partnered on by Libro Credit Union, Pathway to Potential, the P & L Odette Charitable Foundation, EPIcentre UWindsor and WEtech Alliance. All of the Windsor SOUP partners are thrilled about the new partnership with Libro Credit Union. They will be covering the costs of this event as well as donating $500 to the winner at the end. Consistent with past events, the P & L Odette Charitable Foundation will generously continue to match the funds raised at the door.
For this particular evening the presenters will be clients who attended the City Thrive and Youth Thrive 2.0 events hosted by Enactus. The projects fit the social enterprise theme of Windsor SOUP events in the way that they were created. The City Thrive event has the goal of helping people on social assistance create sustainable businesses in order to assist them in getting off of social assistance. Additionally, the Youth Thrive 2.0 event’s aim is to have mentors go into local high schools and teach entrepreneurship and leadership skills while creating a real micro-business. The projects that will be presented on February 8, 2015 that were selected the previously mentioned Enactus events will be:
Universal Smells: Our business is an air fresheners business. Our products are made of natural oils sealed in a golf ball (for their sturdiness).
Home Care: Nashell’s will go into the homes of individuals and provide one- on-¬one care to individuals who need assistance with ADL (Assistance with daily living) We will provide services such as: housekeeping, grocery shopping, yard work, assistance with medication, assistance with shower/bathing, and companionship.
Calm Movers: Calm Movers is a moving and storage service provider. The company provides professional moving expertise to clients in Windsor-Essex County.
3Axis Printing: 3-axis is a 3-D student run business from Assumption College Catholic High School. They aim to assist in our community’s development through technology at a much lower price to satisfy its customers.
Windsor SOUP will continue to follow a 4:4:4 format: four presenters will have four minutes each to make their pitch and answer four audience questions. With a donation of five dollars at the door, attendees will receive soup and salad and get a chance to vote on the social project they feel has the most potential to make a positive impact on the community.
