What is Konnected Workplace Wellness Inc. (“Konnected”)?
Konnected was established in July, 2014 to assist and support employers (in the Windsor-Essex region) with the design and management of sustainable workplace wellness programs.
What Products/services do you provide?
Our community-based approach to workplace wellness is focused on driving individuals to buy and use local products and services geared towards improving and sustaining optimal health and wellness. Our philosophy considers not only physical health but also psychological, environmental, and social factors. We make available regulated health care professionals, a web-based “wellness concierge” complete with online-questionnaires, health tips and trackers to help our clients identify, assess, and monitor individual health risks, goals, and actions. We use those insights to support employees by connecting them with local products, professionals, resources, events and activities.
Anything new and exciting happening within your company?
After a successful first year piloting our program with employers in the manufacturing sector, we are strategically expanding the number of activities, tools, and wellness opportunities available to employers in the Windsor-Essex region. We believe we can play a role in creating a made-in-Windsor solution to spark economic growth and innovation in the manufacturing sector.
How did you come up with your company name?
The word Konnected is a mishmash of connected and the “K” in Kinesiology. We pride ourselves in drawing on Regulated Kinesiologists to act as wellness coordinators for our clients.
Our program incentivizes employees to become responsible for their own well-being. We do this, by connecting employees’ with local health and wellness providers through the use of web-based technologies.
Kinesiology, as a profession, continues to expand and evolve as the Canadian healthcare system shifts its focus to health promotion and preventative care. We use Kinesiologists to not only identify health risks, but also assist with the design, management and modification of our programs.
What tech gadget or resource (i.e. blog, magazine, online tool, app, Youtube video, etc) has played a role in growing your company?
Konnected drives employee engagement through use of web-based technologies and data analytics.
Our online wellness concierge (www.konnected.ca) provides employees with access to wellness materials, healthy recipes, health tips, tracking tools, wellness events and activities and discounts on products and services offered by local health and wellness providers.
Upon first sign-in, users are prompted to complete a Health Risk Assessment (HRA). This questionnaire is used to identify health risks in the employee population, including the amount of exercise the employee partakes in, their perceived level of nutrition, self-disclosed areas of improvement, and other areas of health and wellness such as smoking, stress, and sleep. The aggregate information collected through the Health Risk Assessments is analyzed by Kinesiologists and used to develop and modify programming based on the employees’ direct needs and interests.
