As part of Small Business Month, Chatham-Kent Economic Development, the Small Business Centre, and WEtech Alliance have teamed up to bring a trio of technology-related business training opportunities to the region. The free events are hosted at SOAR Innovation in 202 King Street West in downtown Chatham and spaces are filling up fast.
The first event, Practical Steps to Scale Your Business, is on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 and features a presentation by Adam Castle, Director of Venture Services for WEtech Alliance. He will be guiding businesses through the WEtech Scalability Assessment Tool, which helps them set proven milestones and turn strategies into motion.
The next two events, which are on October 22, 2019, feature the nationally recognized group, Canada Learning Code. The organization Code Mobile will be visiting SOAR Innovation to provide two introductory Ladies Learning Code workshops including HTML & CSS for Beginners and Virtual Reality with A-Frame. The sessions are designed for everyone and target beginners to coding. No fancy programs are needed, just Notepad and a web browser. Laptops will be provided for workshops.
“This is a great opportunity for people to gain skills that will help them have control over things such as their website and understand how to speak with some knowledge when it comes to the technology that is used everyday in business,” said Andrew Tompsett with Chatham-Kent Economic Development. “It’s all about empowering the community, which is why we also invite students to attend the HTML and VR sessions.”
