New Online Shopping Platform Provides Enhanced Opportunities for Local Small Business

May 4, 2020in Tech News 0 Comments

Windsor software company builds shared ecommerce platform to help local businesses sell online easily and compete with bigger brands.

Windsor, Ontario – May 4, 2020 — To support Windsor-Essex County during COVID-19 and beyond, Windsor-based Splice Digital will launch Shopmytown.ca in mid May, a shared ecommerce platform to help local businesses get online quickly and easily to sell products and services. Ahead of launch, Shopmytown.ca is currently seeking interested businesses and vendors, offering early participants added bonuses such as homepage and product features.

Without the upfront investment required to build a stand-alone online store for themselves, participating businesses will also benefit from Shopmytown.ca marketing and promotional efforts, helping connect more local shoppers with more local offerings and providing an alternative to large box-store options and global ecommerce giants for local consumers.

To encourage local businesses of different sizes to participate, there is no cost to join or post products/services. To cover the cost for platform development, 3rd-party transactional fees, marketing, customer service and more, Shopmytown.ca will charge a percentage fee on Sales only, so that investment scales with success for each business separately and appropriately. To further give back, a portion of each fee charged will be donated by the Shopmytown.ca team to local charities.

Shopmytown.ca will provide local shoppers with more local options for online purchases across a variety of products and services, with two specific ways to shop under one ecommerce “roof”:

Shopmytown.ca will provide shoppers with a combined vendor experience to enable enhanced local shopping. Browse and search offerings from “all vendors” in a combined view, then purchase from one or many vendors through one convenient combined “shopping cart” and purchase experience.

Shopmytown.ca also provides individual online shops for each and every participating vendor. The individual shop experience includes vendor-only branding features and product lists, a vendor-specific product search, as well as contact and social media components specific to each shop.

How can businesses learn more? For more information, interested businesses can visit www.Shopmytown.ca or email us at hello@Shopmytown.ca.
