In 2011, The Centre for Enterprise and Law (CEL) received a grant from the Ontario Centres of Excellence to develop their Business of Innovation Program. The main area of focus for this program is to foster entrepreneurial spirit on campus amongst student entrepreneurs (and recent graduates). Through this initiative, the CEL Mentorship/Internship Program was developed. Every term student entrepreneurs and recent graduates apply for a $5000 internship; once they are approved, they are matched with successful entrepreneurs from the Windsor-Essex region to help foster their growth. Since inception, it has proved to be quite successful and has remained a staple program at the CEL. To date, the CEL has accepted 28 interns into its program who have received mentorship from 20 mentors across Windsor-Essex County. For more information on CEL, please visit www.uwindsor.ca/cel.
Most recently, three WEtech clients have received $5000 through the CEL Mentorship/Internship Program. They include: Razzlewood Business Solutions, WindsoriteDOTca, and Thotlab.
