Junior Achievement Looking for Company Program Volunteer Advisors

September 9, 2013in Opportunity Alerts 0 Comments

It’s that time of the year again…Junior Achievement of South Western Ontario is looking for volunteers for our after school Company Program for the 2013-2014 year!
Company Program allows high school students around the Chatham-Kent area to form their very own companies for a twenty-week period. Students must start-up their business, produce, market, and sell their product within this time frame and then liquidate. In addition to running the business, Achievers must develop business plans and shareholder reports. At the end of the year, students are invited to our awards banquet: The Evening of Excellence, where companies and individuals will win specific awards for their accomplishments. Graduating Achievers can also apply for scholarships and bursaries through Junior Achievement at both the national and local levels. Annually, Achievers from the South Western Ontario charter are awarded the chance to go to the Next Generation Leadership (NGL) conference. This is a week long, international conference where students from the Company Program gather to learn valuable business information and tactics from esteemed business leaders.
By being a volunteer in this program, you serve an important role as an Advisor. Advisors mentor the students in this program and assist with lesson plans to teach business concepts to our youth. By being an Advisor, you are able to help students learn valuable life skills and help today’s youth in your community achieve their dreams tomorrow.
We are looking for dedicated volunteers for a twenty week period starting in October. Company Program meets every Monday from 6pm until 8:30 pm. If you are interested in this opportunity, please register online at www.jaswont.org and contact us immediately!
Join us as we help youth start a business, create a business plan, compete in our Pitch It (Dragon’s Den) competition and race to be the Company of the Year!
