By: Karen Behune Plunkett, CEO and President of WEtech Alliance
In leading this organization, I am encouraged by the outreach, support and opportunity that our many friends and stakeholders generously share with this team and Board of Directors.
There is no question that any impact or successes that we achieve for this region as a Regional Innovation Centre, funded by the Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs, will be largely due to these actions. Our value and strength is found in our powerful networks. As a member of the Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs, Canadian Digital Media Network, Ontario Centre of Excellence, and including our own regional partners, we are able to develop and deliver considerable programs for our clients and members. These collaborative initiatives will be a catalyst for true regional economic diversity by promoting and supporting a robust technology and innovation sector. By cohesively supporting each other’s programs and mandates, we can truly benefit from the power of networks.
That coupled with the invaluable support that WEtech receives from both our Provincial and Federal governments is paramount to reaching our objectives. As our core funding is from the Province of Ontario , we are very grateful that M.P.P. Teresa Piruzza and her office have been steadfast in both encouragement and program support. Senior level introductions have been plentiful and will bear fruit for Windsor. The opportunity that M.P. Jeff Watson and his office offered to me/WEtech through the invitation to the Throne Speech in Ottawa on October 16th, proved to be an incredible opportunity for Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent. Introductions to key Cabinet members, were followed by invitations to visit us to pursue and discuss some specific initiatives that will potentially reap solid benefits.
Our region will continue to grow and succeed with this level of network support and collaboration.
